ちょっとした解説


2017年1月リリースの新曲"Shape of You"、3月3日リリース予定のアルバム"÷(Divide)"からのリードシングルとして、"Castle on the Hill"と同時にリリースされました。

サウンド的な方向性としては彼の曲においてはかなり新しい感じですが、元々は Rihanna に楽曲提供することを意識して制作したと、本人がインタビューで語っていました。

約2年ぶりの新曲とあってか、YouTube の Video も公開後もの凄い勢いで View 数が伸びており、3週間足らずですでに1.4億回以上の再生回数となっています。同日に公開された"Castle on the Hill"が7千万なので、倍の勢いで伸びていることになりますね。"Shape of You"のほうが人気が高いようです。

UKシングルチャートでは2曲がデビュー初週に1位と2位を飾り、史上初の快挙となりました。USビルボードのシングルチャートでも、"Shape of You"が初登場で1位となっています。ちなみにビルボードのシングルチャートではこの曲が Ed の初めての1位獲得だったようで、それは少し意外ですね。（Thinking Out Loud は最高2位）

UKやUSの他、カナダやオーストラリア、ドイツ、フランスなど、世界各国のシングルチャートで1位を獲得しています。

既にアルバムのワールドツアーも予定されており、日本公演も期待できそうですね。
