This Love - Maroon 5 歌詞と和訳と解説

今回は久々に歌詞の和訳にチャレンジしてみました。訳したのは、Maroon 5のThis Loveです。2002年リリースのデビューアルバム"Songs About Jane"からのセカンドシングルで、Maroon 5の中でもかなり人気が高い楽曲です。

曲のベースとなっているのはヴォーカルのアダム・レヴィーンの恋愛経験で、作曲はちょうど二人が破局した時でした。

"My pressure on your hips/Sinking my fingertips/Into every inch of you/Cause I know that's what you want me to do" のあたりはかなりセクシーで、アダム・レヴィーンっぽいですね。

ちなみに彼は曲について次のように語っています。

『感情的にはかなり試された機会だったよ。二人の関係は終わってしまったけど、一方でも僕は本当に興奮していて。その時ちょうどバンドはレコードを製作していて、スタジオで恍惚としていたからね。彼女は僕がThisLoveの歌詞を書いている何日かのうちに街を去ってしまって、だから僕は二つの感情に葛藤しながら曲を書いていたんだ。』

『"Yep, that's sexual, all right. I was so sick of typical lyrics like 'Ooh, baby' and 'I love you' and all this vague shit. I thought the more explicit I got without being totally explicit was a nice approach. The little girls would enjoy them, and it would go right over my grandparents' heads. But it would hit my ex-girlfriend like a ton of bricks. It was perfect.He also comments on how MTV played an edited version of the song for the music video, with the word" coming" edited out of the line "keep her coming every night"』
